WE HAVE YET ANOTHER CACOEPIST IN THE RANKS: THE DREADED METATHESIS STRIKES AGAIN

By Lionel

That’s right, Sarah Louise Heath Palin pronounces nuclear as “nucular.”

Lionel...are YOU a

Lionel...are YOU a cacoepist? Almost every American I know pronounces "coup de grace" this way: "coup de grah." If you do, consider yourself a cacoepist, because a "coup de grah" is the way you would pronounce "coup de gras," a blow with a piece of fat, like lard.

Just a pet peeve of mine. Pronounce those final consonants in French if they are followed by a vowel.

"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed." Dwight Eisenhower

that kind of annoys me too, when people say "mem-wah" instead of

memoir
The Jaco Pastorius Experience

and once again

What is a "nucule"? Why do people insist on pronouncing it that way? And, most importantly, who am I?

worried about the upcoming election

Hey Lionel,
I was just wondering if some Americans actually understand what they are up against in this coming election. The anti-American sentiment around the world is at its peak and i believe Americans need someone at the helm of the nation's office who could diffuse this tension.
Whether Americans like the democratic ticket or not, i think that ticket is what America needs at a time like this. America does not need a 'time bomb' as president that would go off at the slightest provocation like John Mccain did at the outbreak of the Georgian crisis.
Lionel, if the republicans win this election, i bet you , we will hear echoes of a third world war......

TELL THE NATION LIONEL

Ntu - Good morning. My

Ntu -

Good morning.

My sentiments exactly - the one HUGE reason I don't want McCain as President of the United States is not the economy, its not his potential to nominate more conservative judges, its not his advanced age and the potential for a Palin succession (although all of these things are very troubling)...rather, it is the fact that once he is in office, we can rest assured that pre-emptive military action will take center stage, rational diplomacy will go by the wayside, more Americans will be sent to die in needless, aimless conflicts, and the chances of another terrorist attack on American soil will increase dramatically because of the steady build-up of anti-American sentiment around the world.

It is, indeed, scary.

Best,

Derm

Derm-

In regard to you statement concerning that bellicose foreign policy- check this out...
http://www.rand.org/pubs/monographs/MG741-1/index.html

When even the Rand Corp (with their history of "assured mutual destruction" cold war theory, and their continued support of hawkish, paranoid foreign policy) decides that preventative wars and military response to terrorism is the perfectly innapropriate response, then maybe McCain should start to rethink things. The hawkish think tank is now publishing "maybe we got it all wrong" studies.

Not only that, Derm...our

Not only that, Derm...our soldiers and equipment are elsewhere; they can't protect us. We could be invaded by practically anyone, and it'd take weeks to mount an effective response. And the cost? Now that we've sold the military to private contractors on the presumption that they're less expensive, and found out what prevarication THAT was, we're even more screwed economically.

We'd have a hard time drumming up allies in the event of an attack or an invasion, also; the rest of the world is fortunately wiser than to send their soldiers to die for someone else's hubris.

Hi Celene! How've ya been?

Hi Celene! How've ya been?

Amazing comments, as always. Amazing and scary enough that I'm ever closer to becoming a bomb-shelter shut-in.

The chat room is (surprise, surprise) NOT working. I've emailed "Interactive". Insert joke about their collective incompetence here.

Best,
Derm

Is This All Ya Got?

Joe Biden is a plagerist. Governor Palin has a midwestern accent.

Gee! What's worse?

Palin is also a liar and a

Palin is also a liar and a bad administrator.
BTW, what is a "plagerist?"
